About the Project

This work is an soft pastel piece, sized 11x17 inches, and the second installment of a three-part series about the similarities between the workings of the mind and machinery.

The dark green color scheme in The Unlit Bulb represents the dark emptiness of the mind, and the lit lightbulbs represent ideas as they begin to develop.

I named this piece the Unlit Bulb because drawing attention to that one difference makes the viewer wonder why the bulb isn't lit like the rest.

The Unlit Bulb is open to viewer interpretation; it either can be an idea that's just about to develop and the light is just about to turn on, or an idea that failed and the light went out.
