About Me(nalie)

Hi, my name is Menalie. It’s pronounced kind of like the (British English) pronunciation of ‘finale’ but with an M!

I’ve been doing graphic and web design since 2015 and am happy to say I’ve come a long way in my design journey. From making posters for my university organizations as a student, to working for the U.S. government or international nonprofits as a professional, I would like to thank the Adobe Suite for being with me through it all!

Professionally, I like to focus on:

1. User-centered design
2. Long-term continued success

My focus is on the end user, as they’re the primary consideration in any project. I make balancing the needs of clients and stakeholders with creating accessible, user-friendly experiences a key aspect of my work.

Long-term success is also crucial. Whether it's for branding or building maintainable websites, I ensure clients, stakeholders, and coworkers can easily manage what I've created.

And in my personal life, I like to:

1. Learn languages
2. Play with kittens

In my spare time, I like learning languages and know five languages at varying levels of proficiency: English (native), Spanish(C1), Chinese (B1), Portuguese (A2), Bahasa (A1). I am currently learning Mandarin. I was very fortunate to receive various scholarships and grants during university and after, which allowed me the opportunity to live in different countries on three continents, outside of my home of the United States. Turns out living somewhere where you don’t know the language is a real motivator to learn!

Regarding kittens, the last time I lived in the U.S., I volunteered with a local animal shelter in fostering baby kittens. As you can see, they were very cute.
